What is the difference between a flyer and a brochure?

A flyer is usually a single, unfolded sheet used for announcements, promotions, menus or handouts. A brochure is typically folded into panels to organize more detailed information about a business, product, service or event.

What flyer and brochure sizes are available?

Common sizes include 8.5" × 11", 8.5" × 5.5" and 11" × 17". Custom sizes may also be available. The best size depends on how much information you need to include and how the finished piece will be distributed.

What folding options can I choose?

Common choices include half-fold, tri-fold, Z-fold and gate-fold brochures. The amount of content and the way you want readers to move through the information will help determine the best fold.

What type of paper should I use?

Text-weight paper works well for lightweight flyers, inserts and folded brochures. Cardstock provides a heavier, more substantial feel and is a good choice for premium handouts, menus and durable marketing pieces.

Should I choose a coated or uncoated paper?

Can flyers and brochures be printed on both sides?

Yes. Printing on both sides gives you more room for information without increasing the finished size. Brochures are normally printed on both sides so every panel can be used.

Do you offer full-color printing?

Yes. Full-color printing is ideal for photographs, logos, illustrations and branded designs. Black-and-white printing may also be appropriate for simple informational handouts or forms.

Does my artwork need bleed?

Yes, if any background color, photograph or design element extends to the finished edge. Add 0.125" of bleed on every side and extend the artwork completely through the bleed area to prevent unwanted white edges after trimming.

How far should text be from the edge?

Keep important text, logos and contact information at least 0.125" inside the finished trim edge. Folded brochures may require additional space around fold lines to keep the layout balanced and easy to read.

What file format should I submit?

A print-ready PDF is usually the best choice. Fonts should be embedded or converted to outlines, images should be high resolution, and the document should be set to the correct size with the required bleed.
